KD Scientific – Evaporators and Concentrators

The KD Scientific Centrifan™ PE is a convenient, compact evaporator/concentrator for research, pharmaceutical, and biotech labs working with samples such as DNA, RNA, and protein. Proprietary self-generated blowdown technology eliminates the potential problems with common evaporation systems such as vacuum centrifuges, rotary evaporators, nitrogen blow-down, and freeze dryers.
Synthetic and medicinal chemists will save time because the Centrifan™ PE dries samples without the monitoring required by a rotorvap. The system also works well for processing fractions collected from flash liquid chromatography. Pharmaceutical and university labs working with radioactive and other highly toxic compounds will appreciate the advantage of the green chemistry design.

Simple, Reliable, Vacuum-Free, Safe for Samples and Users

The Centrifan™ PE Evaporator / Concentrator is a small volume evaporator that eliminates the problem of bumping using SBT (Self Blowdown Technology). SBT allows solvent drying using heated, circulating gas flow and NO VACUUM PUMP!

The Centrifan™ requires a rotor for operation. Rotors are not included. Please review the accesories tab below for rotor options.

Key Features

  • Vacuum-Free – no bumping or splashing to risk sample purity and yield
  • Centrifugal Evaporation – sample securely pressed in spinning containers
  • Versatile – ideal for LC fractions, synthesis reactions, harsh inorganic chemistry, cold room operations, toxic compounds, radioisotopes
  • Low Maintenance – no vacuum pump; no noise; simple unattended operation
  • Temperature – programmable ambient to 55°C
  • Off-Timer – programmable from minutes to hours
  • Green Solvent Recovery – captured gas recirculates in a closed system; toxic materials are contained
  • Easy-to-Use – close the lid to start
  • Flexible – concentrate samples or evaporate to complete dryness, or collect distillate
  • Compact – portable, minimal bench space
  • Containers – use 20/30/40 mL scintillation vials, 1.6 mL Eppendorf tubes, 4 mL (1 dram) vials, or 16 mm x 100 mm test tubes
  • Low Cost

Key Features

CENTRIFAN™ PE EVAPORATOR / CONCENTRATOR

Easy Operation Frees Your Time

  • Just close the cover and walk away – no monitoring required.
  • Dry samples directly in 20 ml scintillation and other common vials.
  • No need to maintain a vacuum pump or use a large supply of blow-down gas.
  • Move the portable unit near your experiment – it even operates on a lab cart.
  • Set the required temperature (ambient to 55°C) and off-timer (minutes to hours).

Efficient Technology Delivers Reliable Results

  • The low price Centrifan PE withstands years of lab work with virtually no maintenance.
  • The self-generating blow-down technology protects samples from loss.
  • Centrifugal force allows secure drying directly in convenient scintillation vials.
  • High vapor recovery permits collection of the condensate as the final product.

Effective Process Eliminates Cross Contamination

  • No vacuum pump means no cross contamination from solvent bumping.
  • Radio labeled compounds dry safely.
  • Residual solvent content in the sample can be reduced with inert dry gas.
  • Compact unit fits in a hot cell to contain radioisotopes.

Environmental Design Saves Energy, Protects Your Health

  • The unit captures toxic vapors and materials in a closed system.

KD Scientific Introduces the New Legato 200 Series Syringe Pumps.

The new Legato 200 series is the next generation of syringe pumps. Three basic models ensure the right pump for your application. Infuse only, Infuse and withdraw and Push pull. Each of these pumps is available in a programmable version for maximum flexibility and capability. Each of the basic models work with one syringe or two and can be reconfigured in the field to use with multiple syringes. The Legato 200 series offers unparalleled ease of use through the high resolution color touch screen user interface. The full touch screen interface enables the user to quickly create configurations and recall them for easy use. The 4.3” TFT color display with touch pad interface presents all the pump operating parameters on one easy to view run screen. Protective cover over the display prevents leakage into the display. Using gloves is no problem with Legato’s resistive touch screen. The Legato Series optimizes your lab bench space. For limited laboratory space the Legato 200 Series can be placed on its side to reduce the footprint by 4 Times. The footprint is only 3.5 in x 9.75 in. The display also tilts with the change to allow the user operate the pump vertically.
