Technical Advantage: Effective against Gram-positive and – negative Bacteria, and fungi including yeast This is a combination of penicillin, streptomycin and Amphotericin formulated to contain 10,000 units/ml penicillin G, 10 mg/ml streptomycin sulfate and 25 µg/ml amphotericin B. Penicillin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis, Streptomycin inhibits prokaryote protein synthesis, and Amphotericin B interferes with fungal membrane permeability. This combination is effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, fungi and yeasts. The form provided by Mediatech is solubilized in a proprietary citrate buffer and is recommended for use in cell culture applications at 10 ml/L.

Technical Advantage: Effective against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria Puromycin Dihydrochloride is a nucleoside antibiotic and protein synthesis inhibitor. By acting as an analog of the 3′-terminal end of aminoacyl-tRNA, it prevents growth of bacteria, protozoa, algae, and mammalian cells by causing premature protein termination. The resistance gene (puromycin acetyltransferase) gives very effective protection. It is effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.

Technical Advantage: Effective against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria Tetracycline Hydrochloride (HCl) is an antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, blocking interactions at the acceptor site on the RBA-ribosome complex. It is a member of the tetracycline group of antibiotics, a broad-spectrum class that inhibits growth of both aerobic and anaerobic organisms through this common mechanism. The congener tetracycline is semi-synthetically produced from chlortetracycline, a product of Staphylococcus aureofaciens. Resistance is conferred by the TetR-Tn10 gene product that blocks cell wall permeability. Tetracycline HCl is effective against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria and is offered in powder form.

Neomycin is a member of the aminoglycosides, aminoglycosidic aminocyclitols consisting of a six-membered aminocyclitol ring attached to aminosugar side chains through a glycosidic bond. Technical Advantage: Effective against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria Neomycin, a nucleoside antibiotic and aminoglycoside, is a protein synthesis inhibitor that causes premature chain termination by acting as an analog of the 3′-terminal end of aminoacyl-tRNA. It prevents growth of bacteria, protozoa, algae, and mammalian cells. Organisms carrying the resistance gene puromycin acetyltransferase are effectively protected from this compound. Neomycin is effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
