PARPAS – Machining center – XS
XS Boring Machine
The XS is the line of medium/large size gantry machines. It is dedicated to 3 – 5 axis high speed machining as well as heavy duty machining on hard materials (steel, inconel, titanium, etc). The possibility to have automatic head changing system or as alternative, the automatic spindle cartridge change, allows the machines to be much flexible and suitable for complex machining both in moulds/dies industry and in aerospace industry.
Point of reference
The XS has modified the accuracy terminology,it has introduced the volumetric accuracy: notonly positioning and repeatability accuracy, but accuracy of the tool centre and vector in the space within the full work envelope of the machine.
Evolution of the XS
XS is the result of a continuous technological development: since 1996 (first gantry version), we have 5 consecutive evolutions of the machine, from the structural elements of the machine kinematics and to the thermal stability.
Versatility
The XS is equipped with heads or spindles automatic change and can be specifically configured to multiple machining needs both for heavy duty and for finishing, on hard materials such as steel, titanium and inconel or soft such as aluminium, composites and resins.

Key Features
structures-rigidity
The structures have been designed using powerful advanced analysis software. With the target to achieve an high dynamic control of the machine, the structures are manufactured with steel alloys ensuring higher rigidity with the same mass compared to conventional materials such as cast iron. The structures of the machines are designed with double wall box concept and they go through thermal stress relief process. Thanks to the Patent giving the thermal stability of the structures, the structure of the gantry is manufactured in a single element which gives an high rigidity to flexion an torsion. The slideways of the ram are in forged hardened steel and integral to the structure of the ram giving very high performances in heavy duty roughing operations. The slideways are also drilled inside with internal cooling liquid circulation to maintain a constant temperature with that of the ram.

Brand
Born in 1951 as PARPAS Spa, the GRUPPO PARPAS started as a manufacturer of pantograph machine tools, then of copying machines, and now of numeric control milling units. Over the years, accumulating experience in the sector, its ambitions grew and began to devote itself to the production of CNC milling machines. Currently PARPAS, world market leader in milling and copying of large molds, produces a line of medium-large milling machines with the best technology. Given the initial success, in 1969, ownership decided to set up OMV (Officine Meccaniche Venete) which, since 1972, offered in the market a line of small-medium size machine tools. Originally the proposed range is that of knee-type milling machines, subsequently, in 1974, it mainly directs itself to the production of machine tools featuring stationary bench and movable upright, the first with this particular feature to be built by an Italian company. Today OMV is committed to the realization of high-speed machines that boast, in addition to the working speed, the same precision and flexibility that has always characterized its production. The salient characteristic of PARPAS Group is to build “custom” machine tools, for which design and produce machines on precise specifications of the customer, features well known and recognized worldwide by customers including famous names.
