Liebherr – Gear Shaping – LS Series
With the machines LS 80 – LS 180 Liebherr is introducing a new series of production gear shaping machines. The performance and flexibility of these machines are optimized for high production requirements.
The machines are based on a common modular platform with proven components from the hobbing machine platform. Especially noteworthy are the direct table drive and the thermo-symetric, liquid-circulated machine bed.
For small face width parts, a RAPID version with max. 3000 strokes/min. is available. For tapered gears all models can be equipped with a swivel-type column for up to 12 swivel angle.
For the dry machining process, efficient and fast chip separation is a major prerequisite. The process energy involved and the disposal of hot chips should not adversely affect the geometry of the machine. The redesigned work area with stainless steel lining improves the chip discharge.
The extremely short cutting times require short loading and unloading times. Modular automation systems are available for various types of workpieces, supplemented by integrated and peripheral workpiece storage systems.

The Liebherr gear shaping machines are optimally tailored for universal use. The machine´s movable shaping head design allows manufacturing of a variety of parts with minimal setup times. With the variable height of the cutting head, it is also possible to cut multiple gears in one setup.
The machine concept is based on a modular platform system, with component groups that are also used for the Liebherr hobbing and grinding machines. This permits cost effective manufacturing of individual components. The machine concept is suitable for wet processing as well as dry processing in equal measure.

This is not least due to the modular platform system, which enables the alternatives of different platforms. By selecting the corresponding modules, the machine can be adapted optimal to the respective process. Depending on the corresponding application, it is possible to select between a electromechanical and hydraulic shaping head. The hydraulic shaping head is used for machining of big gears and big module. The electromechanical shaping head provides advantages at high stroke rates and in connection with the NC-helical guide. Furthermore, the constructive execution enables the production of the most various components with minimum setup effort.
