EIT – Online Monitoring

Online Monitoring allows users to continuously monitor and track a UV source. This is useful in applications where a radiometer will not fit, where high value and/or high production speeds are used and when it is not practical or easy to access each lamp (multi-lamp bank and/or elevated). The feedback is relative and looks at the relative output over time. Online Monitoring will identify both gradual (aging lamps) or sudden (equipment malfunction, user changed parameters) changes in the intensity.

Specifications

EIT’s On-Line Systems measure UV intensity to provide continuous, real-time, feedback on a system. The solution is electro-optic based and can be used to monitor the UV from LED or Broadband (mercury) sources in situations where:

  • Space is limited and a radiometer will not fit
  • Arms, rollers and/or blades are present
  • Sources are enclosed, not easily accessed or high off the ground
  • Multiple sources are used to increase production line width
  • Fast production speeds make it hard to use a radiometer
  • UV conditions change rapidly due to off-gassing and/or contamination
  • High value products are manufactured and undetected changes in the UV
can lead to high scrap levels
  • Continuous validation of the UV conditions is required
  • The process window is tight

Applications include web presses, fiber optic draw towers, hard drive manufacturing, print and medical applications. The intensity measured by the On-Line Monitoring System is a relative intensity versus an absolute (W/cm2) value. The user is able to track both gradual (e.g. source aging) or sudden (equipment malfunction) changes to the UV intensity to take action before the changes impact product quality and bottom-line profitability.

Key Features

  • Continuous UV Source Monitoring: Enables real-time tracking of UV intensity to detect gradual or sudden changes.
  • Durable Compact Sensors: Available in various bands and housings to suit different applications.
  • DIN Rail Signal Conditioning: Processes sensor signals in a 1:1 ratio for accurate intensity measurement.

Available Models

Key Features

  • The Compact Sensor is small, stable and robust with sealed optics that are highly resistant to solarization
  • The Sensor is used in a 1:1 ratio with the EIT 2.0 LLC DIN Rail
  • Compact Sensor Options include:
    • Housing Shape: CS-1 (With purge) or CS-2 (Without Purge)
    • UV Bands Available: Mercury (UVA, UVB, UVC or UVV) / LED (L-365, L-385, L-395 or L-405)
    • Internal Aperture size is based on source power and mounting location
  • Refer to the brochure for temperature limits.
  • The EIT 2.0 LLC Quartz Rod can be used in applications with high temperatures or limited space

Key Features

  • The DIN Rail is a Signal Conditioner that is used in a 1:1 ratio with the Compact Sensor
  • Powered by 24 Volts (AC/DC), the DIN Rail continuously the monitors the UV source and provides either a 0-10 V or 4-20 mA signal proportional to the UV intensity
  • Alarm set points and/or alarm contacts are available in the DIN Rail

Key Features

EMI Compact Sensor

  • EMI Compact Sensors are available in UVA, UVB, UVC or UVV
  • The Housing is available in CS-1, CS-2 or “BTR” (Behind The Reflector) form factor
  • Internal aperture is based on mounting location-contact EIT 2.0 LLC to discuss your application

EMI DIN Rail (UV Intensity Monitor)

  • Provides a 0-10 V or 4-20 mA signal proportional to the UV intensity

Note: EMI Compact Sensor must be grounded and used with an EMI cable

Key Features

The EIT 2.0 LLC Quartz Rod is made of high-quality quartz with a diffuse outer surface and is used in applications with limited space and/or high temperatures.

The Quartz Rod is four inches (10 cm) long and is used with the EIT CS-1 Housing
