However, the configuration of a tee can lead to turbulent flow and solvent outgassing, which increases baseline noise and reduces sensitivity. The geometry of a Y connector creates less turbulence and thus can improve analytical results.     Our Conical Adapters include several products that have been engineered to connect between soft-walled tubing and rigid-walled tubing. The Peristaltic Tubing Adapters included in this family of products come as 2-packs and can facilitate a very secure connection between the soft-walled tubing and 1/16 inches outer diameter rigid-walled tubing using the included compression fitting set. (Other tubing sizes can also function with the 1/4-28 threaded, flat-bottom ports that are part of the design of these adapters.) Our standard Conical Adapter Assemblies come individually packaged and can facilitate the connection of both 1/16 inches outer diameter and 1/8 inches outer diameter rigid-walled tubing to softer-walled tubing of varying inner diameter. While the Conical Adapter Assemblies are easy to use, they do not incorporate a locking collar, as do the Peristaltic Tubing Adapters. As such, the pressure rating for the Conical Adapter Assemblies tends to be lower than that offered with the Peristaltic Tubing Adapters.

    Our Thread to Barbed Adapters are the ideal solution when you need to connect soft-walled tubing with threaded receiving ports – e.g., connecting of peristaltic pump extension tubing to a traditional selection valve used in chromatographic applications. Within this family of products, we offer three different styles of adapters – standard one-piece adapters; one-piece Conical Adapter Bodies; and our Swivel Barb Adapters. (The standard one-piece adapters and Conical Adapter Bodies feature the convenience of a one-piece adapter but also require the barbed stem — used for connecting the soft-walled tubing — to spin as the adapter is connected or disconnected. The Swivel Barb Adapters function as one-piece connectors; however, each adapter is comprised of two pieces that spin freely, which prevents the soft-walled tubing from twisting when these adapters are used.) Each of these adapter styles has been engineered to work well with different soft-walled tubing inner diameter ranges.

    Our Barbed Connector tools include Plastic Tubing Coiler Assemblies in both large and small sizes. These tools aid in the construction of a flow manifold or reaction coil. Each features a number of 0.13 inches holes evenly spaced, perfectly designed to pass soft-walled tubing with an outer diameter of 3.2 mm or less. By first threading your tubing through one of the holes and then wrapping your tubing around the shaft of the assembly, passing the tubing through each hole as you reach it, you can easily coil your soft-walled tubing in a uniform fashion. The Small Adapter is approximately 1.5 inches long; there is an optional, longer adapter that is 3 inches long and that features an additional pass-through hole for longer coils. Each adapter is manufactured from acetal resin for mechanical strength and durability.
