    This unique subboiling system is employed to produce high-purity acids for use in trace analysis by acid distillation. The acid is always fresh and is therefore guaranteed to be of the desired purity. Contaminated acids can be re-cleaned. Contact-free heating of the acids by means of an infrared lamp allows an equilibrium between the absorbed IR radiation and the liquid’s evaporation heat to be established. This equilibrium state is reached at approx. 10°C/50°F below the individual acid’s boiling point. This allows the acid to evaporate slowly for a gentle distillation. By cleaning more economical low purity acids, you can save up to 90% of the cost of analytically pure acids. As a rule, the system therefore pays for itself within the first year.

    In addition to the “simple routine samples”, many users also need to process the most challenging sample materials. For this target group, devices are required that are both powerful and meet the highest safety requirements. In this context, the all-rounder Speedwave Xpert shines thanks to its new SafePrep concept. The use of 2 magnetrons with a total of 2000 W power significantly increases performance, enabling digestion of the most difficult sample materials. At the same time, the microwave is equipped with dynamically regulated fans which provide a marked noise reduction during digestion in comparison with similar models.

    Pressure digestion vessels from Berghof are the systems of choice when it comes to difficult samples, large sample masses, or in labs that value high levels of flexibility. Typical digestion times lie in the range of 2-4 hours. For difficult to digest samples (e.g., SiC), the ability to extend digestion time for practically any desired period represents a decisive advantage. Microwave units cannot be employed for such applications. An additional advantage over microwave systems lies in the fact that larger sample quantities (e.g., 2 g organic samples) can be digested because of the larger available pressure range up to 200 bar / 2900 psi.

    The Berghof easyH2O analyzer selectively determines the water content in a sample by means of thermo-coulometric determination. For this purpose the sample is heated up in a closed sample chamber and the evaporated water is conveyed to the sensor. Unlike the gravimetric moisture-measuring techniques, the result is not distorted by substances which evaporate out of the sample together with the water. The Berghof easyH2O delivers reproducible and exact results. It facilitates separate identification of free surface and capillary water as well as bonded water. Even strongly bonded water is released and quantified by means of temperature programs up to 400°. The results correspond to those of a Karl Fischer titration.
